Frequently asked questions
Our founder has been practicing family law for almost 20 years and has refined a successful client-centred mediation practice focused on negotiating and drafting Separation Agreements. Over the years, she's honed her Agreement to be clear, concise and correct. We pride ourselves on the readability and client-centred nature of our legal clauses. We hope you'll feel the same.
The Preview tab will preview the Agreement and is a current reflection of the entries made in the Builder tab.
You may enable the Editor tab when you have built the agreement, you are happy with the Preview of the agreement, and have reviewed the Property Schedule to ensure you've included the relevant assets and liabilities. The Editor tab is where you refine your language and make the changes you require before sharing or printing.
Let us help you navigate this new tool! The Parenting Planner will help you determine the best option for your clients, whether they are planning on a parenting arrangement or need to sort out contact time.
First, you'll want to start by selecting one the of templates available. Once you find the template that works best for your use case, you can double click on any of the time blocks in order to edit or delete the ones to don't need.
You can then shift or change the timing of the remaining block, or add brand new blocks using the <Add timeblock> action in the top right corner of the screen.
You'll notice that the parenting time percentages at the bottom of the screen update based on your changes to calculate an accurate percentage of time spent with each parent.
If you want to offer this schedule to your clients, you may also want to add pick up and drop off details so that the coparents can each print out a copy of the schedule and refer to it as needed.
The Property Schedule (based on the Scott Schedule) is populated based on the data entered in the Agreement Builder. You can pop back into the Builder at any time in order to update the Property Schedule data. Heads up! If you've disconnected from the Builder, you'll need to manually update the numbers in your Agreement to reflect the changes you're making to the Property Schedule.
You sure can! At any time you can return to the Builder, update your entries, and then pop back over to the Editor tab and click the Update button in the top right. But be careful! This action will revert your full Agreement back to the version produced by the Builder. If you've done a fair amount of editing, you may want to consider making your changes in the editor itself, rather than using the Builder.
If you are done with the Agreement Builder and are ready to start adding your own clauses and details, you'll want to navigate over to the Preview tab and scroll to the bottom of the navigation panel on the left hand side. You'll see a button that says 'Edit Agreement'. Again, make sure you're done with the Builder first, because once you start using the Editor you're essentially 'breaking away' from the Builder.
